More news from Flowers Band
Flowers Band have announced that they are saddened that Andrew Hicks, the band's principal Euphonium will be leaving the band after the forthcoming Brass In Concert Competition in November. Andy has reluctantly accepted a job offer in his native Essex starting in the New Year and will relocate there during the Christmas period.
A spokesmand for the band said: "Andy has quite simply been a model bandsman from his commitment, his contribution but mainly for his playing. He is quite simply one of the best Euphonium players of his generation!!!"
"Since depping with the band at Brass In Concert in 2003, where he won the Best Euphonium player, he has been a massive part of the band's performances at concerts and contest up and down the country. But not only has his playing been brilliant, he has served as a committee member and a very big character within the band that will be sorely missed by everyone."
"We wish Andrew and his family our heartfelt thanks for an exemplary service to the Flowers Band."
Andrew will play his last National Finals for the band this coming Saturday and is hoping that his contribution to the band's performance can end his tenure as Principal Euph on a real high.
An announcement regarding Andrew’s replacement will be made before Brass In Concert in November.
