Old Silkstone Say Goodbye to Musical Duo Old Silkstone Band in Barnsley has announced the departure of their musical director Simon Kerwin after a three and a half year partnership. The band will also be saying farewell to Simon's partner and principal cornet player, Tabby Clegg. In the prizes Simon's direction and musical input led the band to achieve quality performances both on and off the contest stage, including a recent podium place at Butlins, 2013 Bolsover Entertainment Contest champions and 2014 Whit Friday March prize winners. He also brought fun and innovation to concert programmes, including an entertaining return to the City of Sheffield Band Club Concert series and as the 'Bavarian' front man of the band's ever popular, annual Oktoberfest event. Thanks A band spoke person said 'We would like to thank Simon and Tabby for all their help over the last three and a half years and wish Simon all the best with The Nottinghamshire Band of the Royal Engineers and Tabby with the Military Wife’s Choir York as well as success with future musical and business ventures.' Said Simon Kerwin: "Both Tabby and I would like to wish the band every best wish for its long future. We have made some super friends through the band and worked on some great musical projects. With our ever growing business commitments with Mode for, plus playing in and developing our own brass group Ottoni Brass it is a good time for us to concentrate on future projects, but we look forward to working with the band again in the future."
