On Saturday 22nd November between 10am and 12noon, Lofthouse Brass Band will open their doors to the general public as they look to host their 3rd Music Café. Anyone is welcome whether you’re 7 or 70, an accomplished player or brand new beginner, even if you fancy just popping along for a biscuit and a brew.
The event will be the 3rd open day that the band have held. Band Chairman, Derek Walker comments “You’re never too young to start playing a brass instrument. Many people say to me ‘I’m too old to play and I wish I’d have started playing years ago’. To those people I would say – do it!’. At 50 I did and I’m so glad I did. You meet so many great people in the brass band world and have a tremendous amount of fun along the way. Pop along on Saturday 22nd November and see for yourself.”
The Music Café will start at 10am at Outwood Working Men’s Club in Wakefield and you will have the chance to see Lofthouse 2000 Brass Band, Lofthouse B Band and also Lofthouse C Band (the beginner band) perform. Players giving demonstrations of their instruments throughout the morning and it wouldn't be a music café without giving you the change to grab a cuppa and a cake (or 2). We also provide you with and instrument, so you may even end up taking one home with you!
