There was a great day of brass band playing to enjoy at the Pogson Bray Entertainment Contest at Berties Banqueting Hall in Elland on Sunday 19th October. 11 bands took part, performing various well know tunes, marches and solos.
Lofthouse Brass Band took to the stage after being drawn band number 8. The performed a selection of 5 pieces including the soprano cornet solo, Live and Let Die played beautifully (and from memory) by Mark Moorhouse.
The band’s Musical Director, Andrew Whitaker commented: “It was a brilliant day out for the band, made even better by coming away with a prize. The band put on a good performance and we look forward to returning next year. From everyone in the band, we would like to extend our thanks to Adam Clewes and John Lees who helped us out in the bass section”.
The band finished with 177 points, making them the best 4th section band on the day.
Lofthouse Band’s next outing will be at Brass Factor in Wetherby on 31st October, where they will be hoping to secure you vote.
